The Jewelry Test
Women Should Not Be Judge For How They Show Up
The Jewelry Test
Women are so often policed, by their clothes, the way they style their hair, down to the jewelry they choose to wear.
We should not be judged for how we choose to show up in the world.
I bet there is a gorgeous piece sitting in your jewelry box that you absolutely love, but would never wear it to work. Or maybe you thought about wearing it on a date with someone special you recently met and thought this is bit too much as a first impression.
Could it be the new pair of (sculptural) earrings you recently purchased? What about the bold bangle that feels like an declaration of armor? Or perhaps your favorite necklace that's a little bolder than your other delicate pieces.
You’re holding the favorite necklace, looking at it with admiration. You hear a voice in your head that whispers, “I really want to wear this today.” And then another voice talks you out of it. Saying, its too loud. Too bold for the executive meeting.
The jewelry you hesitate to wear is usually exactly what sets you apart from everyone else.
The Real Test
The real jewelry test is about how you choose to show up for yourself in spaces where you feel the most uncertain.
At work, we play it safe. On a first date, we want to be impressive but not overwhelming. So, we reach for the delicate pieces. The necklace that whispers instead of speaks.
Wearing pieces that disappear, because blending in often feels easier than owning the spotlight.
Playing it safe doesn’t make you feel powerful. It makes you feel invisible.
The test: Are you willing to wear bold pieces on the days you need your self-confidence the most?
The morning when you’re presenting to the executives that intimidate you. The meeting where you’re the youngest person in the room. The interview for the position you want more than you're willing to admitted to yourself.
That’s when your signature piece matters most. It works like armor, quieting your nervous energy, as a reminder that you belong in the room.
Finding the Line Between Professional and Personal
Somewhere along the way, we were told jewelry has rules, what’s for work and what’s for real life. Professional versus Personal. Safe verses bold.
Work jewelry is what you wear to be taken seriously. Real jewelry is what you wear to take yourself seriously.
The ARDEINAL woman refuses to choose between the two.
She shows up dressed professionally, regardless of how others may perceive her. She the woman who is showing up as yourself.
The goal isn’t to tone down your style. The goal is to wear pieces that complements your style, while still commanding respect in the spaces you occupy.
The ARDEINAL woman knows:
Sculptural earrings aren’t unprofessional. They are architectural.
A chunky bangle isn’t distracting. It’s intentional.
Layered necklaces are not too much. They are your signature style.
The line between professional and personal is about wearing pieces that make you feel grounded, confident, and unapologetically yourself. Especially. in spaces that don’t always see your value.
Using Jewelry to Show Up in Intimidating Spaces
When you enter a room, not everyone will welcome you the same way.
The boardroom where you’re the only woman. The networking event where everyone seems to know each other except you. The client meeting where you’re still proving you belong.
Wearing bold pieces will give you something to anchor; when your confidence feels uncertain. When you put on a pair of sculptural earrings, you’re telling yourself: I’m not shrinking. I’m not apologizing. I’m showing up as me.
And that choice shifts everything. How you hold yourself. How you speak. How others see you.
Your Challenge
Wear the piece you’ve been saving.
The bold (sculptural) earrings. The chunky bracelet. The necklace that makes you feel like yourself but also makes you a little nervous.
Wear it to work. Wear it to the meeting that intimidates you. Wear it on the days you’d normally play it safe.
Not because you have to prove anything. But because you are allowed to show up as yourself, unapologetically, in every space you occupy.
The jewelry test isn’t about being fearless. It’s about deciding that your presence matters more than your fear.
Pass or fail?
Unapologetically yours,
ARDEINAL
P.S. Reply and tell me: What’s the one piece you’ve been afraid to wear to work? I want to hear your story.
